Drains grey tank.
Rv hot water tank diagram. Your hose will screw on to the city water port but the fresh water fill aka. The shower drains into a special 1 1 2 hepvo trap. If you look at the rv plumbing diagram it can be placed anywhere on the hot orange or cold blue lines. Water exits the trap and runs through a flexible 3 4 hose to the grey water tank underneath the van.
Rv water heaters are powered by propane electricity or both. Fresh water fill this port fills your fresh water tank and then a pump in your rv pushes water from the tank to your fixtures. Unfortunately the system is not real accurate. The three main holding tanks fresh water gray and black sewer all will have a similar system to tell the rv er how much fluid is in the tanks.
As the picture to the left shows it usually will have 3 or 4 sensors in the side of the tank. As water is pushed through the water lines some of that water is forced into the water heater s tank. Now when you turn on the hot water valve on your faucets or shower your rv plumbing system pulls water directly from the water heater tank. You only get a short supply of hot water which quickly turns lukewarm and then cold.
This device provides the functionality of a standard p trap but takes up less space under the shower. When you de winterize your rv make sure your water heater tank is completely full of water prior to turning on the gas or electric systems on. If you experience these symptoms look to see if the by pass valves are in the proper position. The galley sink uses a small rv style trap under the sink.
